Respectfully returned to its former glory

Abbot Mill has been brought back to life in a ten year, historic restoration, modernization and reconfiguration that maintains the historic integrity and restores the character of the original mill. Dating back to the 1870’s, Abbot Worsted Mill took over the horse and nail factory which had produced axles, iron parts and nails, changing it to expand manufacturing of wool and carpet yarn in 1879. Abbot constructed the two and three story buildings in 1887 and enlarged them in 1910. The renovation preserves sections of the original wood flooring, exposed bricks, beams, hanging fire doors and various historic artifacts from the original mill.

Come share a piece of history, while enjoying energy efficient, extraordinary living in today’s modern society.

The community consists of 131 luxury apartments in a combination of loft, flats and townhome styles. All of the apartments feature energy star stainless appliances and in-home washer and dryers. The energy efficient and cooling systems run off a hydrothermal system, using canal water to generate hot and cold air. Abbot Mill features two separate rooftop solar panel systems that service the complex, providing more than 300 kilowatts in non-carbon energy generation capacity, creating affordable, green living space and providing renewable power for years to come.
